Hi, I'm Cody from the MLPRPG project, i was wondering if you would be so kind as to allow us to use your image as a backdrop for our upcoming website. Full credit will be given if you do decide to allow us
This illustration has a Tolkien-esque quality to it. Perhaps it's the path on the left, that could lead you anywhere, if you're not careful. The green land, the little river. And, over the hills and far away, a suggestion of something momentous, just beyond the fields you know.
Now that I think on it, perhaps it's the lack of birds, bugs and animals that makes me think this. If you've ever read "The Lord of the Rings," you may recall that JRRT was always careful in his description of the land, its trees and other vegetation, noting how these changed as his characters moved across the landscape. Perhaps this reflected his own experience, as one who moved through the world and realized that he and the other "fast" creatures might stop and momentarily "inhabit" the land, but the land came before them and would remain when they were gone.
This painting is a vision. Thank you for sharing it.
Wow! Thank you so much for your comment. That "could lead you anywhere" thing is what I love about landscape paintings, that it can make your imagination wander. It makes me very happy if you felt a bit like that from it.
The way you describe the fixity of the land in comparison to how temporary us fast creatures are, I think that's a beautiful way to look at it. I read The Lord of the Rings years ago, but I think I was too young then to pick up on that.
This is utterly fantastic. I absolutely love how well-defined all of your shapes are. It gives a sense of clarity and simplicity to what would otherwise appear busy or cluttered. Keep using this style, I love it!
